End-leaf on Front Cover

Due to the large size and weight of the book, exceptionally we started with gluing the end-leaf to the front cover. Our plan was not to glue the last 30 cm (~12 inch) of the end-leaf on the spine end, so the first page can go under it and we can fix them both to the front end. By mistake we have fully fixed this sheet to the cover, leaving only the a remaining of 28 cm (~11 inch) free.

Trial Printing

The first 4 pages were printed on the large paper roll. Pages 19, 20, 21 and 22.

After printing we unrolled them to see the result and test the bookbinding process. It was a good opportunity to see if there is any problem with the equipments, the size of the large tables. We hung one page to see the lifter mechanism to see how the sawing will be done.

The test was useful, finally we saw how the printed sheets will behave during unrolling, cutting and flipping and the most important thing: how we can handle the sheets in the air when they are lifted up.

A small modification is necessary on the DTP editing template so the prints on two sides of the sheet align perfectly.
