On 22 May 2010 the World’s Largest Book was put in it’s final place at Szinpetri, Hungary.

The book will be available to the public after the official opening ceremony on 5 June 2010.

We’ve received the official information from the Guinness World Records that our claim were approved. Now, our book is the largest in the World! 🙂

The current record for “Largest book” is:

“The largest book measures 4.18 x 3.77 m (13.71 x 12.36 ft), weighs 1,420 kg (3,130 lb 9 oz) and consists of 346 pages.”

It’s a great news just one day before the book is placed in it’s final position.

The first major article about the Large Book were published on yesterday’s in one major Hungarian newspaper. You can read the online version in Hungarian.

The hinges had been cut out by a company with laser. We’ll have five pairs of hinge on the book, here are some draft how they will look after some surface treatment.

Today we’ve finished the cutting of all 336 pages. Last 48 pages still needs to be sewed.

Today we sewed eight signatures, that is 96 pages in total. These sheets were previously cut so the process was faster and for our surprise we’ve finished the job sooner than expected. Still at the end of the day everybody were tired so we left the last pages for the following day.

The Largest book measures 3.85 x 2.77 m (12.63 x 9.1 ft), weighs 1,060 kg (2336 lb 9 oz) and consist of 304 pages.

We must break this record in terms of dimensional size and number of pages. Our book will be:

4.00 x 3.6 m  (13.12 x 11.81 ft) and the number of pages will be more than 336 (maybe 342).
